Accounting Supervisor

Bloomington retail based corporation with multi state locations is looking for an Accounting Supervisor to replace retiring employee.

Qualified individual will train with current Accounting Supervisor for an 8 month period. This position needs to be able to start by November 1st.

  • Assists Treasurer/Controller with the overall accounting function to include payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, cash receipts and G/L.

  • Supervise the accounting staff with ability to evaluate the department workload and reassign work to meet department deadlines.

  • Preparing and recording journal entries for multiple entities.

  • Prepare reversing journal entries.

  • Prepare bank and account reconciliations.

  • Assist with preparation of state related annual reports/compliance documents.

  • Reconcile expense and credit card statements.

  • Manage month-end close activities.

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements.

  • Assist Treasurer/Controller in the management of the annual external audit, including internal processes, and preparation of supporting schedules and analytics as needed.

  • Preparation of multi state sales taxes.

  • Accurate and timely processing of payroll for multiple companies in compliance with company policies and government regulations.

  • Ability to work closely with other functional areas and business unit managers to resolve issues and support achievement of business goals.

  • Perform such other accounting, financial or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time-quite often on short notice.

  • Cross train on all accounting services processes, acting as a backup when required in addition to individual responsibility for any unassigned departmental tasks.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or 5-7 years of accounting experience in the private sector.

  • Strong systems skills are highly desired as well as intermediate Excel skills.

  • Understanding of US GAAP principles and overall strong technical skills are required.

  • Experience with payroll processing using Paylocity highly desirable.

  • Experience with accounts receivable and payable.

  • Strong communications skills.

  • Solid knowledge of accounting standards, processes, reporting and systems.

  • Strong supervisory skills.

  • Highly organized and detailed oriented.

  • Excellent, effective and professional interpersonal skills, and communication skills.

  • Superb multi-tasking and time management skills, with excellent organization skills.

  • Ability to work well with deadlines and reprioritize work assignments as needed.
